Remember to remove any valuable possessions from your vehicle, such as spare change, electronics, wallets, and purses. Keep your garage door opener out of sight or with you, and never leave vehicle keys in plain sight in an unattended parked vehicle. Avoid leaving your vehicle idling with keys in it. Consider using anti-theft devices like immobilizers, car alarms, or steering wheel clubs. If your vehicle will be parked for a prolonged period, disconnect and remove the battery. Adding security screws to your license plate makes it more difficult for thieves to steal. Keep a record of your vehicle’s V.I.N. and any important electronics or tools in a safe place. And finally, avoid hiding spare keys on or in your vehicle as they can be easily found.
